Attend the Tale...

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Christmas. Ours was wonderful. The kids finished the day thoroughly satisfied. For us that means a good Christmas. Mostly it was just nice to be with family (even if only briefly.) I got to see my Uncle Bill & Aunt Barbara who I rarely see since they live in Hawai’i. And my cousin Kenya who I see even less seeing as she lives in Tennessee.

I don’t know if I can pick a best from my presents. Favorites include (in no particular order): 1) A gig bag for my guitar. No more lugging my heavy hard-shell case up and down Edgemont Dr. 2) Tickets to Spamalot in Huntsville. Never seen it. I’m excited. 3) Tickets to Wicked in Birmingham. These were actually from me to my daughter, but I’m going. Now I just need Sweeney Todd and Spelling Bee tickets for my birthday and my year will be complete!

I was looking back over some old entries today. I thought I wrote about resolutions last year around New Year’s. I couldn’t find it. I swore off New Year’s Resolutions a few years ago. This year I’m making a couple, and I plan to stick to them.

Did I mention that I got a new TiVo? I got a new TiVo. The old one died a few weeks ago. A new one was going to run about $150, so I decided we would just get Comcast DVR instead. I called TiVo to cancel our service and they (as I hoped they would) sold me a new box for about half price. It was exciting times. Now I have to get all of my Season Passes reset. It could take a while, but I’ll get them.

I went to Paducah last weekend. One of my former youth got married. His was the first wedding invite I’ve had from a former youth. (There’s a blog entry in and of itself.) I had a great time. I drove up on Saturday afternoon, drove around town for an hour or so, got to catch up with a few people at the wedding, and then drove back home. As I was driving around Paducah I missed living there. I actually had the thought, “I shouldn’t have left.” I haven’t decided if I agree with myself or not. I miss a lot of things about Paducah, but I would miss a lot about life in Florence right now if we’d stayed.

The network is back up and it’s time to go home. I’ll try to post tomorrow. If so I’ll tell you what my resolutions are this year. Maybe you can help me keep them. Maybe not when you see what they are.

Until tomorrow, Boyfay.
