Schoolin'

We're on our break in Christian Beliefs. Today is one of those turn you brain to Jell-O type of days. We're talking about Christology. Specifically the history of the debate over the nature of Christ. Fun stuff. Athanasius & Apollinarius v. Theodore & Nestorius, Alexandria v. Antioch. Fun stuff.

Yesterday I participated in my third funeral in less than 6 months. This time I actually did the preaching. The previous two I've done a prayer, read the obituary, and offered a few remarks. Yesterday was more of a full-blown sermon. I think it went well.

I received what might be the biggest compliment I've heard in regards to my preaching. After the funeral a member of my church came up and said, "That was a good sermon. It made me proud."

She was proud to have me as her pastor based on what I preached at the funeral....I think I like that.

OK, back to the Christological Crisis!

*update 3:10 pm* We have now veered off into the mind-numbing arena of splitting hairs. This is the point where I lose focus. I can only hope the lecture really was over and this is not just a pause for questions....
