I have two papers to write. Well, one and a half, really. I started one of them last night.
For my Formation class I have to write "My Racial Biography." That should be fun. Very interesting and thought provoking.
for my Intro to Educational Ministry class I have to write a paper about context. Which, in essence, means I have to write a physical description of the church grounds and buildings. Then give some analysis of those spaces based on a Christian Education context. Fun....or not.
OK, time for class. I should probably take notes now.
*Update - 1:14 pm* - There are people who are late class every week. Seriously? You can't adjust your self to get here on time after you realized you didn't leave in time the first week? Come on! This is graduate school!
*Update - 2:25 pm* - The drink machine is broken. I'm nto sure I'll make it through my evening class. It could get very, very ugly.
*Update - 3:30 pm* - We're having a great discussion on inclusive language. Our topic today is "God: Language and Imagery." We just finished a time of some small group discussions regarding inclusive language for God and humans. Fun stuff. I'm fine with referring to God as male or female or other. (I prefer other.) My quibble is this: to use either, especially exclusively and really even using both, we lose the mystery of God. To argue over male/female language is, to me, to try to pin down who God is. Much like Moses interacting with God in the Burning Bush. We're trying to trick God into telling us God's name. To do that we run the risk of idolatry.
